Set yourself up for a productive day.
Many people don't mind wasting a day doing nothing. I like to give myself a lazy day once or twice a month. However, usually, I get real regretful when I waste a day accomplishing absolutely nothing. So, I developed a sure fire way to get off to a productive day.1. Get Enough Sleep
The first thing you want to do is make sure you've gotten enough sleep. Sure many people claim that they don't need a full 8 hours to be productive. I can agree with that. There have been plenty nights during my drug using years in which I would stay up for 2-3 days in a row and be able to function. However, to be functioning at an optimal level you should get the optimal amount of sleep. So, I would suggest getting 8 hours of sleep to perform at your best level. Go to bed a little earlier than usual to give yourself those extra hours of sleep and to have more time to wake up.
2. Ease out of bed and stretch
I will admit that during the average weekday I press snooze about 3 times and jump up out of bed because I don't want to be late. Ideally, I should ease out of bed after a nice cat stretch. After getting out of bed, do a little stretching. Develop a routine so that you stretch all your body parts. Do about 15 minutes and that should get you loose and limber for the day.
3. Have a good breakfast
All of you know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast gives you energy, kick-starts your brain in gear, keeps hunger away, and makes you more mentally alert.
4. Prioritize
Determine want you have to get done, what you want to do, and what you should have completed long ago, but failed to because your a procrastinator. Write down all these tasks and prioritize the list with things that have to be done at the top. You can decide for yourself the order of what you've been putting off and what you want to do.
5. Just do it
When I was in high school, the hardest part of doing homework was opening the book. I've learned the best thing to get something done is to start it right away. If you hesitate or procrastinate your chances of completing the task diminishes greatly.
These steps have worked for me and increased my productivity throughout the day, but then again everyone is different. Some of you might need a morning run and fresh air. Some of you might need a long shower. So, I suggest that you try this plan and alter to fit what works for you.
